I met Corey and Steven many moons ago, long before we all had kids. We worked out at the same Crossfit Gym, sweating it out over kettlebells and burpees. Fast forward a few lifetimes later, and now these two joyful loves are getting their workouts from their adorable kiddos, Parker and Oliver.
When Corey and I reconnected last summer, we chatted about so many of the things moms with young kiddos do — sleep and snacks and what it’s like to juggle parenting with everything else life has to offer. It was so great to talk — Corey has this contagious laugh (even more so in person) and both she and Steven have this warmth that makes everyone feel welcome. I love to chat with my clients ahead of a family photo session to really understand why this season is important to them for photos, and what rituals and rhythms are unique to their family that they want to capture.
With every family session at home that I do, I want to capture the details of the spaces and routines that make up your family’s daily life – all in a way that helps you to remember what it felt like to be in that season when you look back on these photos years later.
We planned their family session at home in Trumbull, CT, for a few months after little Parker was born, and it was such a delight to meet her in person! The family’s rescue dog Bailey met me at the door (possibly one of the coolest pups I’ve ever met) and I had a chance to hang with Parker and her parents while her big brother was still sleeping. Oliver woke up to join the party and there were so many sweet moments with the four of them! I love the way this family loves — they are warm, and joyful, and honest, and so full of love for one another. It was beautiful to witness and magical to photograph.
